Basic information on interrupting a trade

Required particulars of submissions

In the notification of interruption of a trade, the entrepreneur will specify:

  • The company name, business name, or given name and surname
  • The identification number of the person
  • Date of birth
  • Birth registration number, if assigned
  • The trade or trades that are being interrupted
  • The start date of the interruption of the trade (which may be the date of submission or a later date) and the end date of the interruption of the trade
Administrative fees

There is no administrative fee for the notification of the interruption of a trade.

Time limits

For entrepreneurs, the Trade Licensing Act sets the time limit as follows: submissions in respect of the interruption of a trade are made no later than the day on which the trade is interrupted.


The trade licensing office will process submissions without delay and, if the submission is free of defects, it will make an entry in the trade licensing register within the general statutory time limit of 5 working days.
